Police are appealing for witnesses after a 10-year-old boy was assaulted.

The assault happened at Haydon’s Road Station on Monday, March 18, as the boy boarded the 8.16am service to Sutton with his mother from platform two.

Once on board the train a man is alleged to have pushed the boy.

Commuters were questioned by British Tranport Police this morning at the station, on Haydon's Road, Wimbledon, in a bid for further information.

PC Matthew Neale-Pickard, investigating, said: “The boy did not suffer any injuries, but was left very shaken up by this incident.

“There were lots of people at the station and on the platform at the time and we would urge anyone who saw anything to contact us.”

A 55-year-old man from Merton has been arrested on suspicion of common assault and has been released on bail until Thursday, April 18.
