Firefighters battled a blaze in Tooting for four hours last night.
The fire broke out in a ground floor flat, destroying half of the property.
Four fire engines and a fire investigation team were called to St Cyprians Street just after 10.30pm and the fire was under control by 2.30am.
Three people escaped the building before the fire service arrived and nobody was injured.
The fire brigade have confirmed the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "It was confined to the ground floor flat, 50 per cent of it has been damaged at the rear of the property.
"There is also minor damage at the back wall."
