Rain may have ended the recent sunny spell but it failed to stop celebrations for more than 200 revellers at a Big Lunch event.
Residents of Battersea's Falcon Estate relaid tables inside the George Shearing Centre, in Este Road, when the rain came down on Sunday.
And it was not long before they were tucking into traditional Ethiopian dish Dora, home-made cakes, and a banquet of Jamaican delights and Reggae Reggae Sauce, donated to the community by Levi Roots.
The event also coincided with the 50th anniversary of the first person to move into the estate - and to mark the occasion a Magnolia tree was planted, with help from Wandsworth's mayor, Councillor Jane Cooper.
One of the organisers, Sandra Munoz, said: "After lunch the weather cleared up a bit, so the children were able to enjoy the bouncy castle and the bubble machine outside and having their face painted.
"The music was great and people were dancing. It was a great afternoon for all the family and there was so much food left over that many people left with some goody bags."
