Battersea's iconic power station may no longer be visible from passing trains according to plans on show at a public consultation tomorrow.

As part of the Battersea Power Station redevelopment, a public exhibition including a model and computer view of the first phase of the development are being put on show by Treasury Holdings UK and Real Estate Opportunities.

The company hopes to start construction next year on 750 homes, a hotel and other units. But it includes flats which, a pressure group claims, will conceal one of London's most famous buildings from the gaze of passing train travellers.

Brian Barnes, Chairman of the Battersea Power Station Community Group, said: "Many people travelling to Victoria by train take a photo of Battersea Power Station as they pass by.

"The latest plan will put a stop to that as a huge barrier of flats will obscure this view which is so well liked by commuters and others."

Outline planning permission was granted in November last year for the power station's redevelopment, which includes 25,000 homes and large retail units, which may create 16,000 jobs.

The developers are looking for the public's feedback before submitting more detailed information to Wandsworth Council.

The exhibition will take place at the Consultation Suite at Battersea Power Station on Friday (May 13) between 10am-6pm and on Saturday (May 14) between 10am-4am.

Visitors should enter via gate two on Kirtling Street. For more information about the plans visit www.battersea-powerstation.com
