London Fire Brigade highlights kitchen fire risks with new initiative

Wandsworth was home to nearly 700 kitchen fires in the last five years, according to new research.

The blazes, which injured more than 100 people and caused the death of one person, have prompted Wandsworth’s firefighters to call on residents to take extra care in the kitchen.

London Fire Brigade has launched COOKSAFE, a series of events taking place across London, aimed at highlighting the fire risks associated with kitchens. The first takes place at Borough Market on Friday.
