Putney residents warned of killer on the run


Police are urgently appealing for information after a killer with Putney connections escaped from a secure mental health clinic in Edmonton yesterday.

Fida Mohammed Utmanzi, 20, absconded from the North London Clinic, in Church Street, at around 7.20pm.

Officers were notified by the hospital shortly after and enquiries to trace the man continue.

Utmanzi was born in Afghanistan and was last seen wearing black Addidas joggers with white stripes on the sides, a navy blue hooded top and grey trainers.

He is 6ft 1in, thin, with short black hair. He is also known to have cigarette burns on his arms.

He has previous connections to the Tottenham, Fulham and Putney areas of London. He has also spent time in Newcastle.

He was detained under the mental health act indefinitely after being convicted of the manslaughter of Rasool Khan at the Old Bailey on the January 8, 2010.

Mr Khan was stabbed to death at an address on West Green Road, north London, on March 3, 2009.

Members of the public are advised not to approach the patient, but to call police immediately on 999.
