A single mum inspired to become a ‘Kung Fu master’ after a four-year stalking nightmare is bringing a self-defence tour to some of London’s roughest areas.
Wing Tsun master Della O’Sullivan teaches three-hour Fight Like a Girl workshops to teach young girls to defend themselves against situations like the one she found herself in.
The 34-year-old said: ““In my late teens I had a stalker and I had experienced some quite terrifying things.
“What was more terrifying is on most occasions where I had been cornered in public, hardly anyone helped me - only once and it was a woman”.
Della was stalked for four years and suffered flashbacks and nightmares. She decided to take control of her own safety when her son was born.
Being a petite 5ft female she looked for an art to suit her. She took up Wing Tsun (the art Bruce Lee learnt) and found her life’s purpose. She is now the head of the UK Five Elements Wing Tsun association and one of the highest ranking women in the world.
The Fight like a Girl workshops heightened awareness and self-defence techniques. Della said all women are welcome whether they have experience violence or not.
The next stop on the tour is in Dulwich on the September 9 and Della expects it to arrive in Wandsworth in October.
