Wandsworth Council is holding sessions to offer any resident with financial worries advice.
The council’s financial inclusion team will be offering help with debt, housing benefit, council tax, rent arrears and more.
Mr Cook, a local pensioner, said: “Even though I am careful with my money, I was struggling to keep on top of my bills.
“I can’t thank the team enough for the time and care they took to help me. I no longer worry about how I am going to pay the next bill.”
The sessions are part of the council’s Aspiration programme which serves the Roehampton and Putney Heath, Latchmere ward and Battersea.
Since its beginning in 2012, the scheme’s aim is to improve life chances by giving advice on how to deal with finances better and be aware of all available options.
It also offers youth mentoring, employment and training initiatives and cultural and sporting opportunities.
No appointment is necessary so people can pop in at any time between 10am and 4pm February 27 and March 29 at the Western Area Housing Office, Holybourne Avenue, Alton estate.
