Weather forecasters have warned of a band of "torrential" rain heading for London during rush hour.

BBC Weather warned commuters to expect disruption after the downpour.

Heavy rain overnight has already caused problems for train operators.

Flooding at Woking will disrupt trains through that station all day, South West Trains has said, while a lightning strike has added to woes between Ashtead and Guildford.

At least one train, the 6.17 to Sutton, on Thameslink's Wimbledon loop has already been cancelled.

BBC Weather tweeted: "Torrential thundery rain affecting London & SE Eng will bring transport disruption."
