Putney performing arts pupils have been some of the first in the country to audition for producers on a new ITV talent show, The Voice Kids. 

More than 20 pupils, aged between six and 13, had the opportunity to meet the producers before performing individual auditions at Little Voices on June 16.

Among the auditionees was Max Moorehouse, 11, a regular on the West End having starred in 'The Railway Children'.

He choose to perform ‘Close every door’ from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat and ‘Photograph’ by Ed Sheeran.

Other performances included; Arabella Coco Scanlon, 11, who performed ‘Memory’ from Cats the musical, Alexander Nuria, 11, who performed a rendition of ‘Break Free’ by Arianna Grande, Neva Jansen, seven-years-old, who performed ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ by Queen and Olivia Newby, 10, who performed a rendition of ‘When we were young’ by Adele.

Ashlea Pearson, the school principal, was approached by the producers in May to arrange the auditions.

She said: "It is so fantastic to see these children having this unique experience here within their own performing arts lessons.

"I am so proud of how each and every child has not only performed but has confidently been interviewed."

The Voice Kids is due to launch in 2017 on ITV.
