A man wanted in connection with attempted murder in Reading, who was believed to have connections to Wandsworth, has been identified, but police have appealed for further information about a second man. 

Thames Valley Police had appealed for information about Q Johnson, 21, also known as Ricky or Jamie Sampson, who it was believed could have been in the borough.

Mr Johnson has been identified and enquiries are ongoing. 

They are still looking for a man who may be called Diego, who is in his 20s.

He is black, about 5ft 8ins and of medium build.

The victim, a 28-year-old man, was stabbed while he was in Sidmouth Street at about 5pm on the Boxing Day 2015.

The victim sustained wounds to his chest, including a punctured lung.

He was treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford but has since been discharged.

Investigating officer, Det Con Ben Sherriff of Force CID based at Reading police station, said: "I would appeal to anyone who recognises this man, who we believe is known as Diego, to make contact with the police as soon as possible.

"If you are harbouring either this man then you could be committing a crime, so it is vitally important that you contact us now. The easiest way to do this is by visiting your nearest police station or by calling 101.

"Members of the public are advised not to approach this man, but instead call 999.

"If you do not want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.

"We are no longer appealing for information regarding another man, who we previously released details about. He has been identified and enquiries are ongoing regarding him."
