More than two months after St John's Hill was evacuated when a cement mixer crashed into a ditch and caused a gas leak, the vehicle has been recovered.
November 27: Lorry crashes into 25ft ditch and fractures gas main sparking evacuation near Clapham Junction
These dramatic scenes, which can be viewed in the video above, show a crane lifting the mixer out of the basement of the Alchemist Pub in Battersea on Sunday morning.
The cement mixer had fallen into the basement on November 27, when the driver was backing in to fill the ditch.
Remarkably, the driver was not badly hurt, but the mixer hit a gas main and the street had to be evacuated to prevent any residents coming to harm.
The Alchemist Pub is being rebuilt brick by brick after the owner knocked it down without planning permission.
