A woman who was walking her dog on Tooting Bec Common could hold vital information about a terrifying attack on a 13-year-old, the Metropolitan Police has said.

The girl was raped on Thursday evening, November 12, as she walked along the common toward the athletic track.

Police have now revealed that a dog walker passed the teenager just before the attack, and could help officers with their investigation.

Wandsworth Times:

Detective Inspector Keith Ward of the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command said: "I am very keen to hear from anyone whether on foot or in a vehicle who may have heard or seen anything suspicious around the time of the incident.

"A woman who was walking her dog passed by the victim just prior to the attack and I appeal for this lady to come forward and speak with us."

The suspect is a white male, aged around 20, 6ft, of slim build with dark eyes. He was clean shaven and at the time of the attack, was wearing a tracksuit top and bottoms with three stripes down the sides with black trainers, a black woollen hat and black gloves.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone in the area of the common, in West Drive , or from anyone who was in Furzedown Road, who may have seen a tall, white male "hurrying away" from West Drive.
