Police have released details of the assault, which happened on April 11, in a bid to track down witnesses and find out more information.

The victim, a 29-year-old man, was involved in an argument with another man in Putney High Street at about 9.50pm and had part of his ear bitten off.

Paramedics took the injured man to a central London hospital and police believe a woman in her 20s saw the attack.

She is believed to have long, straight dark brown hair and was wearing a brown leather jacket and blue jeans.

The attacker was Asian, between the ages of 28 and 35, had a shaved head and beard and was wearing a dark brown suit.

Detective Constable David Richardson, from Wandsworth CID, said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this assault on April 11.

"It was a busy time of the evening and I am appealing for anyone who may have seen this incident to come forward. At one point the suspect was placed in a head lock which people may have witnessed."

No arrests have been made.
