Recorded offences in Wandsworth are down a third compared to a decade ago.

There were also 833 less victims of crime recorded last year compared to the 2013/14 total.

Crime in the borough has fallen 30.5 per cent since 2005 and by almost 14 per cent since 2010.

It means Wandsworth is still the inner London borough with the lowest crime levels, according to police figures.

The council’s community safety spokesman, Councillor Jonathan Cook, said: “We need to continue building on this success and continue bearing down on crime and criminality.

“Our local police deserve huge amounts of credit for the sterling work they have done in confronting criminal behaviour.”

Over the past 12 months the borough has seen a reduction in robberies, residential burglaries and thefts from cars.

In October, 2014, Wandsworth Guardian revealed that the number of child sexual exploitation cases reported to police had increased fourfold in one year.

The increase was hailed as evidence of an increase in awareness and identification of CSE.
