A 74-year-old man was hit by a van at about 6.30pm, on Friday 13, in Gilbey Road.
The van driver, in his thirties, was spoken to by officers on Saturday following a police appeal.
The driver, who stopped after the crash, has not been arrested but is helping police with their enquiries.
His van has been examined by officers. The pensioner remained in a critical condition in a south London hospital this morning. His next of kin had been informed.
Officers from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are trying to contact a man who witnessed the incident and tried to make the van driver aware of the collision immediately after it occurred.
Police were not called but were informed of the incident in the early hours of Saturday.
Anyone with information should contact the witness appeal line on 020 8543 5157 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555-111.
