A woman in her 80s has died after a fire broke out in her care home.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to Wood House care home in Laurel Close, Tooting, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Three fire engines and 15 firefighters arrived to tackle the blaze, which damaged part of a two-roomed flat, on the home’s first floor.
The woman, who was in the flat affected by the fire, was taken to nearby St George's Hospital where she died yesterday afternoon (Thursday, January 29).
LFB was called at just before 1am and brought the fire under control within 50 minutes.
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We sent a number of resources to the scene including a medical team from London's Air Ambulance to the scene.
"We treated a woman reported to be in her 80s for burns. She was taken as a priority to St George's Hospital, Tooting."

The home is owned by Viridian which described Wood House on its website as a residential care home providing personal care and accommodation for 34 older people.
The website said staff provide 24-hour care and helps residents with everything from meals to washing and dressing. Care is provided by another company called Gold Care.
A spokeswoman for Viridian Housing said: “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy and our thoughts are with the deceased’s relatives and friends at this time. The London Fire Brigade are investigating the incident and we will provide our full cooperation with any investigation.
"The care home at Wood House is leased to a specialist care provider, Gold Care. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, we are unable to comment further except to say that the safety of residents continues to be our top priority and we are working with Gold Care and London Fire Brigade to ensure the safety of all residents at Wood House.”
Fire crews from Tooting and Wimbledon fire stations attended the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
