Police cordoned off part of Clapham Junction this morning after a 49-year-old man was hit by a bus.

The man was hit at the junction of St John’s Road and Falcon Road, just after 6am.

His injuries were initially thought to be life-threatening. He was taken to St George's Hospital, in Tooting, and police say his head injuries are no longer thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

St John's Hill, Falcon Road and Severus Road, in Battersea, were closed from 6.30am.

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 6.13am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a bus and a pedestrian at the junction of St John’s Road and Falcon Road.

“We treated a man reported to be in his forties for a head injury.

“He was taken as a priority to St George's hospital, Tooting, a major trauma centre.” 

The incident caused major delays for commuters and police reopened the roads at 9.25am.

The London Air Ambulance also attended the incident.
