Imagine how much soup you could make from this.
This giant pumpkin, weighing 52kg, won the heaviest pumpkin contest at this year’s Roehampton Garden Society autumn show.
Allotment grower Geoff Smith, 53, from Putney, and grandson Oliver, nine, showed off their jumbo squash at St Margaret’s church hall on Sunday, September 13.
Mr Smith, 53, from Putney, said: "It was luck if anything. I was surprised by the size. It was six foot in girth.
"If I had left it I think it would’ve maybe grown another foot. I wasn’t feeding it anything in particular."
The prize-winning vegetable grew in full sun and was watered twice a day.
Mr Smith added: "It was wonderful just seeing everybody come and look at it. I’m going to keep the seeds and give them away."
