A South Thames College hand knitting student with a severe visual impairment has featured in social documentary project.
1,000 Londoners is a five-year digital project aims to create a digital portrait of the city.
Each week it features a new video of a Londoner - everyone from Boris Johnson to 60-year-old Hyacinth Malcolm who studies at South Thames’ Tooting campus.
She is almost completely blind and has learned to knit virtually by feel alone, taking her instruction from her tutor’s spoken words.
She said: "With one sense gone, touch is really important. But it’s no use sitting there complaining about it, it’s something that I need to deal with and I’m dealing with it. There might be someone out there in the same position as me who has no family or support, so I count myself lucky."
