A campaign group has been carrying out ‘citizen science’ in the fight against air pollution in Battersea.

Members of the Battersea Society were out in full-force on Friday, March 28, doing a survey of shop workers in St John’s Hill, in Clapham Junction.

They also placed diffusion tubes around the area which are able to monitor Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) levels in the air.

Recently the society, together with the London Sustainability Exchange, conducted a number of citizen science surveys in the region which gave them cause for concern which they shared with the Wandsworth Director of Public Health and the CCG.

Previous studies of air pollution in the borough have revealed a number of areas suffer from very high levels of NO2, including Putney, Wandsworth Town and St John's Hill
