Pop-sensation Sinitta helped inspire charity runners this weekend and encourage people to plant trees.

The TV presenter helped runners warm-up for the Tree-Athlon which took place in Battersea Park on Saturday.

It was organised to raise money for charity Trees for Cities, which aims to beautify cities by planting more trees.

The race was followed by a 100m barefoot run and a free festival of live music from a VW Campervan stage.

Those taking part were also given a free tree, as well as a T-shirt designed by acclaimed fashion designer Markus Lupfer.

Sharon Johnson, chief executive, said: "Our Tree-Athlon is a fun day out for all the family. The money raised by the Tree-athletes helps towards the planting and care of thousands of urban trees across the UK and internationally."
