A fraudster who faked vintage FA Cup tickets and sold them to unsuspecting collectors has been jailed.

James Joseph Warren, 57, from Carshalton, was jailed for 15 months at Swansea Crown Court last week.

Warren used his printer to copy football tickets and other memorabilia to dupe £38,000 from unsuspecting punters.

Pre-war FA Cup final tickets including ones from Bradford City and Manchester United were sold to avid supporters across the UK.

An investigation by Dyfed-Powys Police in Wales found that the prolific fraudster had been conning people of amounts of up to £2,000 at a time.

PC Neil Davies said: "This sentence sends out a clear message to criminals who commit these types of offences. Fraud is a serious crime and can have a devastating impact on its victims - and we will not tolerate it."

This kind of criminality is more common than most people realise, because often it's never picked up by its victims, who are usually over the moon to obtain an exclusive item at a discount price.

Here, apparently a contemporary printer and contemporary inks and paper were used to create a ticket supposedly over 100 years old... and nobody suspected?

Beware especially wary of autographs. Author J K Rowling has remarked that most of the signed copies of her books selling on eBay are fakes - many bearing a signature nothing even like hers.
