Balloon floats hundreds of miles to France Balloon floats hundreds of miles to France

A balloon released during a Diamond Jubilee street party in Worcester Park has been found hundreds of miles away in the Alsace region of France.

Maryse Doux-Boussiron, who found it last month, informed residents that the balloon, with a tag bearing a return address, landed safely in the garden of a friend of hers in the town of Bains les Bains, in the Vosges region of France near the German border.

The balloon, which had completed a journey of around 400 miles, was one of dozens launched in a balloon race by children in Longfellow Road on June 4 as part of the street's Jubilee celebrations.

I'm glad it floated in miles and not those wretched kilometres which don't mean anything to me without doing the conversion calculation.
