A man who fell from a height this morning had to be lifted out of a building site with a crane before being taken away in an ambulance.
The 50-year-old man, who was taken to St George’s Hospital with leg injuries, had fallen several feet in Haydons Road, Wimbledon, at just after 11am.
Several onlookers watched with concern as the man, believed to be a worker on the site, had to be lifted out with a crane after being treated by paramedics.
An air ambulance helicopter was also in attendance, but hospital staff said he was taken away in a road ambulance and did not need to be air-lifted.
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We were called just before 11.10am to reports of a fall from a height in Haydons Road.
“We sent one ambulance crew, a single responder in a car and an officer, members of the hazard area response team and a London Air Ambulance.
“Our staff treated one patient, reported to be a 50-year-old male for leg injuries.
“He was taken as a priority to St Georges Hospital by ground ambulance, accompanied by a doctor in an air ambulance.”
