Tia Sharp: Stuart Hazell remanded after body found in bag

Tia Sharp's step-grandad has appeared in court charged with the 12-year-old's murder.

Stuart Hazell, 37, spoke only to confirm his name and to indicate he understood the charge against him at the brief hearing at Camberwell Green Magistrates Court this morning.

Hazell, who is the partner of Tia's grandmother Christine Sharp, was charged after the schoolgirl's body was found at the home the couple shared in The Lindens, New Addington on Friday.

Hazell who was wearing a blue t-shirt was remanded in custody to appear via video link at The Old Bailey on August 15.

A preliminary hearing will be heard at the court on November 19.
