Croydon chefs are celebrating south Croydon being rebranded as the borough's Restaurant Quarter.

Following hot on the heels of the successful South End Food Festival held last month, the rebranding is designed to ensure the Croydon Recovery Project activities are of lasting benefit to the area.

The range of eating options, which include two Michelin-rated restaurants and cuisine from around the world, make the area a natural choice to be recognised as Croydon's Restaurant Quarter.

Award-winning chef Malcolm John, who owns Le Cassoulet and Fish and Grill said: "The rebranding of South End as Croydon Restaurant Quarter is the best thing to have come out of the riots last August.

"It shows that the people of Croydon have spirit, soul and determination and long may it continue. Hopefully this will spark the push for a total rebrand of Croydon itself."

Linda Arthur, owner of Bar Txt and secretary of South Croydon Business Association added: "We are fortunate to have so many great restaurants and what makes Croydon Restaurant Quarter stand out is that it isn’t just the same as every town centre – there is such a variety of high quality pubs and restaurants here."

The Croydon Recovery Campaign is being delivered on Croydon Council’s behalf by Croydon Business Improvement District (BID), the company which represents, and is funded by, Town Centre businesses.
