  • "it isn't just young people who need that sort of bus service- night workers, postal workers, shift workers, and service workers do as well, they all need a 24 hour transport system- and a reliable one too unlike the one we have now"

Youngsters have re-launched a campaign and want the support of the mayoral candidates.

Three years ago, hundreds of young people protested against the decision to axe the old N213 night bus between Croydon and Sutton.

Daniel Dunican is spearheading the campaign which is calling on all mayoral candidates to reinstate 24 hour bus service.

Mr Dunican said: "It is clear that TfL will not bring back the N213 but by simply extending the 154 to operate 24 hours a day, the next London Mayor can provide a night bus linking Morden, Sutton, Carshalton, Wallington and Croydon.

"If Ken and Boris want our votes, they need to listen to the needs of young people."

Brian Paddick, Liberal Democrat candidate for mayor and Jenny Jones, the Green Party candidate have both pledged their support of the campaign.

MP for Carshalton and Wallington, Tom Brake, said: "It is great to see young people getting involved in politics and I do hope whoever is the next Mayor brings back the night bus and puts a greater emphasis upon transport and transport safety in outer London."
