Surrey Police are enlisting the help of residents to trace some of their ‘most wanted’ criminals.

In December, Surrey police joined forced with Crimestoppers to launch Most Wanted - a website featuring e-fits, CCTV and images of individuals wanted in Surrey with the aim of tracking down offenders.

In the last 12 months, 22 people featured have been located with some receiving jail sentences.

There are currently 12 people featured on the Surrey section of the ‘most wanted’ site wanted in connection with offences including theft, burglary and fraud.

Peter Waller, 70, is wanted in connection with conspiracy to steal and is suspected of committing offences relating to thefts at a number of antique and jewellery stores across Surrey in 2010 when a total of nearly £130,000 was stolen.

He failed to attend Guildford Crown Court on July 24 last year and there is a warrant out for his arrest.

Chumo Ajufo, 38, from London, who also goes by Andrew Ajufo and Cassidy Night, was charged to appear at Guildford Crown Court in February 2011 after a series of fraudulent loan applications totalling more than £137,000 and using stolen credit cards to the sum of £25,000.

His whereabouts is currently unknown and he is known to have changed his accent, hairstyle, and used aliases in the past to avoid detection.

Chief Inspector Dave Mason said: "A number of those featured have since been traced, put before the courts and are now spending time behind bars.

"This should serve as a warning to other criminals who think they can escape justice that we will use all methods at our disposal to ensure there is no hiding place for you."
