A drug dealer who swallowed a “substantial” amount of heroin and crack cocaine when he was searched by police has been jailed.

Unemployed Kyle Mullin, 24, of Putney, was taken to Epsom Hospital when he became unwell after swallowing the class A drug packages.

Eagle-eyed neighbourhood patrol officers spotted Mullin, of Whitnell Way, in Leatherhead on July 8 and suspected he had travelled into the area to deal drugs.

Mullins was subsequently searched and officers recovered 19 cling film packages containing 3.55 grammes of crack cocaine and 49 cling film wraps containing 9.18 grammes of heroin.

In an effort to destroy the evidence, Mullin swallowed a substantial amount of drugs and had to be taken to hospital when he became unwell.

Investigating officer, PC Helen Rackstraw said: “This was an outstanding stop-check by the local safer neighbourhood team and special praise should be given to Mike Mann, Jason Woods, Gaynor Grout, Fran Davey and Sergeant Simon Cox.

“His attempts to destroy the evidence did not work and after a thorough investigation Mullin now begins his new life behind bars. Illegal drug-dealing destroys the lives of those supplied to.

Surrey Police simply will not tolerate the illegal supply of class A drugs and I hope Mullin’s lengthy sentence reassures the community we will always target drug dealers and prosecute them.”

Mullin was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, November 12, to 33 months for possession with intent to supply class A drugs, 33 months for possession with intent to supply class A heroin and three months for obstructing an officer.

All three sentences will run concurrently.
