The Wandsworth Guardian is happy to support the Save Shaker Aamer Campaign.

Mr Aamer has been held in Guantanamo for eight years in appalling conditions despite never been charged with an offence or put on trial.

While his claims or torture remain unanswered, in Battersea his wife and children, the youngest of whom has never met his dad, are denied a husband and father.

How you can help:

•Write to the Foreign Secretary, David Mililband, demanding he meets the SSAC to discuss a way forward. Write to David Milliband, Foreign Office, King Charles Street, SW1A 2AH.

•Join the Facebook group Save Shaker Aamer, and keep up to date with the issue.

•Write to your MP asking them to sign Martin Linton’s EDM (EDM 547).

•Go to wandsworth guardian.co.uk and leave a comment for Shaker’s family.

Next steps Battersea MP Martin Linton raised an Early Day Motion asking for Mr Aamer’s release.

It currently has 57 MP signatures, which, Mr Linton said “needed to be 100 to send out a strong message”.

He and the SSAC are pressing for a meeting with the Foreign Office and would take the case to Washington DC, with Amnesty International, for a visit in early March.
