This amazing picture of the moon was one of many captured at the Kenley Observatory as part of its Spring Moonwatch.
The event was organised by the Croydon Astronomical Society at the observatory in the Kenley Aerodrome.
It was part of the International Year of Astronomy, celebrating the 400th anniversary of Englishman Thomas Harriott using the telescope to observe the moon in July 1609.
There were worries thin cloud would ruin the spectacle on the Saturday night but the skies cleared to reveal Earth’s celestial partner.
The society will hold a Jupiterwatch and another Moonwatch later in the year.
