South West Trains has given a sneak peek inside its’ new £230m carriages.

The rail company has released walk-through footage of the features on the first of its’ 30 new trains, which arrived at Clapham Junction station for testing yesterday.

The Siemens built Class 707 Desiro City trains, which will boast features such as free Wi-Fi, are due to arrive in south west London in November next year.

Christian Roth, managing director of South West Trains, said: “It is fantastic to see the first of our new trains arrive on our network.

“As well as the extra capacity, the trains offer vastly improved passenger facilities with more space and better on board information, helping to improve thousands of journeys every day.

“Our passengers may well spot the new trains travelling on our network over the coming weeks and months as we carry out the relevant testing to get them ready to carry thousands of passengers from this coming April.”

Waterloo station is currently undergoing an £800m upgrade, with the works expected to cause major disruption over the next year.

Network Rail bosses have warned that from next August, stations between Chessington South and Malden Manor will not run for nearly a month as platforms 1-4 at Waterloo are extended.
