Authentic Provencal cuisine is coming to Cobham this month.

New restaurant La Rive is set to open on the old site of La Capanna on the banks of the River Mole.

As well as views of the river, the restaurant will offer diners the chance to eat in four different spaces – the gallery, the dining room, the conservatory or al fresco in the heated open air area.

It is the second project from Simon Rand and head chef Eric Payet, who successfully collaborated with The Hare Bar and Grill in Lingfield.

Eric worked at his parents’ restaurant before training in France and starting his career properly at the Michelin-starred Putney Bridge in 1998. He went on to work in central London at further Michelin-starred restaurants and helped earn Clos Maggiores three AA Rosettes before launching The Hare with Simon in 2014.

Among the dishes on La Rive’s menu will be poached fillet of red mullet in saffron, squid ink bow pasta and vegetables confetti; honey glazed pork belly on the bone, braised endive and chantenay carrots; and half roasted guinea fowl, sweet corn with Parisian gnocchi and radicchio.

Interior designer Harriet Forde has been charged with creating an elegant, romantic space to suit the fine dining concept.
