The Rugby World Cup has come home and every game is a must-watch. Beginning on September 18 and rucking along until the final on October 31, it will be full of big games, big men and big tackles.

With cheering on Stuart Lancaster’s England team set to become of national importance, you’ll need somewhere great with some atmosphere.

Vibe’s Andrew Southgate unearthed 20 great pubs, clubs and fanzones to watch the world cup.

Old Deer Park

Richmond’s Old Deer Park will be hosting a Fanzone on selected dates throughout the World Cup, with a 40m observation wheel, rides, food and drink, rugby-themed activities and some ticketed events where you can catch the likes of comedian Frankie Boyle and rugby legends Jonah Lomu and Martin Johnson.

The Cabbage Patch, Twickenham

A stone’s throw from Twickenham and regarded as the world’s leading rugby pub, the Cabbage Patch has the perfect location just across from Twickenham train station with three private rooms and 6 bars, home-cooked food, a bar menu, stonebaked pizza, Sunday roasts and a garden.

The Old Bank pub, Sutton

A friendly, welcoming pub that offers delicious food and unforgettable experiences. It is also the only pub in Suttton offering outside TV to show live coverage of the big rugby matches.

Trafalgar Square, London

The atmosphere at the Fanzone in Trafalgar Square is likely to rival Twickenham for atmosphere and are open with big screens for the semi finals and final. There will be food based on the Semi final competitors and rugby coaching sessions for children.

The Cock and Bull, Sutton

A Fuller’s pub  serving roasts, home made burgers and continental dishes. It also serves Fairtrade coffee. The pub offers top quality TV screens and audio sound for the rugby and is the perfect place to watch the Rugby World Cup.

Rileys Sports Bar, Croydon

Perfectly situated in Croydon town centre, Rileys is a great place to watch the rugby while playing darts, snooker or pool.

The Waldegrave Arms, Teddingon

 This pub prides itself on serving local produce from the local bakery and butchers. The pub has created a special fantasy world cup mini league to celebrate the start of the tournament giving you the chance to win a £500 bar tab or a signed England World Cup shirt. The pub also serves delicious sandwiches and main meals.

The Shack 68, Teddington

A bar and restaurant that's the perfect place to watch the rugby, preferably with drink in hand.  The pub also serves a delicious BBQ menu with fantastic meats, salads, service and sandwiches. If you want to stay after the rugby, then it hosts excellent live bands. It’s also doing a fantasy world cup mini league.

Sun Inn, Richmond

Regualarly frequented by rugby players and supporters, the pub is passionate about rugby, has giant 60 inch TV screens to show the tournament and serves a giant BBQ on matchdays.

Marquis of Granby, New Cross

A traditional boozer rather than a gastropub and a perennial favourite for sports fans. It serves Guiness priced below £4, but no food. It also has a pool table and the atmosphere and it will be even better if Ireland have a good tournament.

Lost Hour, Grennwich

 A  pub which offers a warm welcome and  delicious food and drink. It is the perfect pub for any occasion and has live TV offering a good atmosphere for watching the World Cup or any other sporting event.

Another Fuller’s pub, with a lovely menu and a more refined decor that’s more fitting for a gentleman’s game.

The William Webb Ellis, Twickenham

Where better to watch the rugger than a pub named after the man who lent his name to the Rugby World Cup trophy? It’s a Wetherspoons, so good value is guaranteed.

The Alma, Wandsworth

Time Out named it the best pub in Wandsworth and, with screens showing the matches, it follows it’ll be a great place to watch the World Cup. Guest ales sometimes include locals Sambrook’s and Twickenham Ales.

The Ship, Wandsworth

One of the oldest pubs on the Thames – it’s been open since 1786 – The Shp mixes tradition with contemporary flourishes and serves great beers. The pub has even offered the chance to a customer to win two tickets to the Rugby World Cup final to raise funds for the charity Wooden Spoon.

Orange Tree, Richmond

A pub synomous with rugby, the action will be shown live on massive HD big screens in “the Twickers alcove”.

A pub with a long and proud association with Rugby, the Princess of Wales has links to the world’s oldest rugby club, Blackheath, and even served as the changing room for the first ever rugby international between England and Wales played on Blackheath. All the big matches will be shown live.

Blythe Hill Tavern, Forest Hill

This Irish pub was given the honour of being named the best pub in London by the Society for Preservation of Beers from the Wood. A real heritage pub that has a comforting and welcoming atmosphere, big sporting events like the rugby World Cup will be shown on a big screen.

Gigalum, Clapham

A hipster-haven DJ bar with ‘restaurant standard’ food, Gigalum is showing Rugby World Cup games live. If you are a techie or hipster who also happens to love rugby, then this is the pub for you. The pub serves quality ‘restaurant standard’ food  with buffets, brunch and Sunday roasts.    

Golden Lion, Bexleyheath

Located on the Broadway at Bexleyheath, this is a fantastic place to watch the Rugby World Cup. You can even grab yourself a burger and a drink for £6.95 as you watch the rugby.
