A killer who was told he may never be released from prison after repeatedly raping a woman and throwing her over a bridge is due at the Court of Appeal today to try and get his sentence reduced.

Donald Andrews, from Penge, will be at the court to ask for permission to appeal the life sentence he was given in May 2012.

If this is granted then he is expected to appeal the sentence today.

His victim Victoria Legg, of Brighton Road, Purley, was left in a wheelchair as a result of her injuries from the attack.

The 31-year-old’s mother Cindy said she was starting to get her life back together when she was found dead at a flat in Tanfield Road, Croydon, 18 months later.

During his sentencing at Woolwich Crown Court in 2012 the court heard his previous crimes included two manslaughters, aggravated burglary, indecent assault and actual bodily harm.
