The family of a bullied teenager who was found dead in her home say her death will not be in vain as she touched so many lives.

Ashdon Muirhead was discovered in her home in Mersham Road, Thornton Heath, on Saturday afternoon.

Friends said the 14-year-old was bullied before her death, which police are not treating as suspicious.

And in a statement released today her family said: "We are deeply saddened by the death of our daughter Ashdon Jazz.

"She was a vibrant, funny and unique young lady.

"We know that her death will not be in vain because her short life has touched so many people.

"It is a very difficult time for her family and close friends.

"We hope that this week all schools will ensure that they make anti-bullying week a priority.

"She will be greatly missed."

Ashdon was a pupil at Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College.

Paying tribute to her earlier this week, the college’s headteacher Amanda Compton said: "The whole college are deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic news of Ashdon and we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to her family at this incredibly difficult time.

"She was a lively and intelligent student and both staff and students are struggling to come to terms with her loss."
