Police have confirmed a 20-year-old man was stabbed in Pollards Hill yesterday afternoon.

Officers were called to a shop in Chestnut Grove at about 3.15pm to reports of a man with a stab wound in his upper leg.

Mystery surrounds serious assault on estate 

It is understood the assault took place on the Pollards Hill Estate in South Lodge Avenue.

The wounded man then walked round the corner to Chestnut Avenue before asking someone to call an ambulance.

No arrests have been made, but police enquiries continue.

The assault is the third teenage stabbing on South Lodge Avenue in the last four months.

Police tape remains this morning behind the New Horizon Centre 

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the belly at the bus stop next to Pollards Hill Library earlier this month.

Another 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital with stab wounds in his arm and back after an assault at the junction with Carisbrooke Road in June.
