Youngsters can influence a House of Commons debate by voting on the issues that are most important to them.

This year Croydon’s Youth Parliament representatives are looking to consult with the 6,000 children aged 11 to 18 who live or go to school in the borough.

The views of those young people will be taken by the representatives to the Youth Parliament’s annual debate in parliament.

Options for priority topics for 2014 to 2015 include subjects as wide-ranging as votes for 16-year-olds, the school curriculum, mental health services, the living wage, and euthanasia.

There will also be paper ballots circulating through schools and youth centres and groups can hold mini-debates and then vote by a show of hands.

The deadline for votes is October 3.
