Army officers met the mayor to tell her more about what they do in preparation for when they move to Croydon in December.

Major Dominic Moorhouse officer commanding 150 Recovery Company and Lieutenant Sophie Tasker were invited to meet the mayor to introduce themselves and the role of 150 Recovery Company.

The reserve soldiers from 150 Recovery Company, many of whom are recovery and vehicle mechanics, metalsmiths and armourers, act as the breakdown service of the army, fixing equipment where it fails or recovering it to where a repair can be made more securely.

From December they will be based at the Mitcham Road Barracks, after moving from Reigate.

Major Moorhouse said: “We’re delighted to have received such a warm welcome from Croydon and look forward to building a long and fruitful relationship with the borough once we move in at the end of the year.”

150 Recovery Company is part of 103 Battalion Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).

It is recruiting in the Croydon area so anyone interested should call 08456 008080 or go to army.mod.uk/join
