Motorist escapes unharmed after car flips
A motorist escaped injury this morning after his car collided with a lamp post causing his car to flip onto its bonnet.
Firefighters from Wimbledon were called to the scene at about 8.39am but the man had already escaped from the car without injury.
The A219 was blocked outside Cannizaro House causing delays and tailbacks along Wimbledon High Street while the accident was cleared.
Patricia Plummer who passed the scene said: "I saw two fire engines attending about 8.30am plus a lot of police vehicles.
"Traffic tailed back to Wimbledon High Street and beyond.
"I drove past at about 9.00am slowly as there were tailbacks.
"A black car was on its roof in the middle of road, there was a bent street light pole and police directing traffic."
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 8.38am today to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and bus on Parkside Avenue, SW19.
"We sent an ambulance crew to the scene. The patient was conscious and breathing and was not taken to hospital."

Don't be ridiculous. These two incidents are entirely different.
How many times have you read about that one bell causing accidents in comparison to a car hitting a gigantic lamp post up on the common?
The bell on Worple road is about 30 times smaller. The council have enough evidence to show that it's a serious and recurring issue. Same manoeuvre every single time.
They should hike through the CCTV images, there's a camera directly oposite the bell.

Funny how someone hits a 'bell' in Worple road and its the Councils fault, yet someone hits a lamp post in the Village and its just 'an accident'.
