Police have named the victim of a fatal stabbing in Oceana last night and launched a murder investigation into his death.

Detectives believe Jamie Sanderson, 20, from Southall in West London, was stabbed to death at the Kingston nightclub in the early hours of this morning.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is still in custody at a south London police station.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Mark Lawson from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command. He said: "I am appealing for anyone who was in the Oceana nightclub at around the time of this incident to come forward and speak to my team.

"This incident took place in the vicinity of the ground floor cloakroom toilets - if you were in that area of the club and saw the altercation, or the events leading up to this altercation, you may have vital evidence which could help this investigation."

Third-year Kingston student, Zoe Birdsall, 21, who walked past Oceana at 4.30am said: "There were loads of security guards and police all outside. "The whole club was sectioned off with police tape and I saw two girls sitting on the floor crying. I knew something serious had happened."
