A mosque has been praised for its fundraising efforts in Pakistan.
In the wake of the worst floods in the country's history last year, Lal Hussain, Chairman of the Muslim Culture Welfare Association, was praised for his part in the Mosque Campaign at the House of Commons.
The Pakistan Recovery Fund celebrated the mosque campaign, which asked mosques to donate some of their Friday collection to help the work of The Prince of Wales in Pakistan.
Every mosque's constituent MP attended the event to show their support for the work mosques have done.
Paul Burstow, Minister for Care Services, said: "I am delighted that the Lal Hussain and the Muslim Cultural Welfare Association are being recognised for their fundraising efforts.
"Lal Hussain has a reputation for working hard for good causes. This medal is recognition of his efforts on behalf of hard pressed communities in Pakistan."
Tom Brake, MP for Carshalton and Wallington, said: "It is very appropriate to be honouring Lal Hussain in this way. He has made a very significant contribution to the Muslim community here and abroad and most recently to HRH Pakistan recovery fund. His energy and commitment to a range of causes is widely recognised in his borough."
