7:00am Monday 25th April 2011 in Sutton By Hannah Williamson
A family fun day held to raise money for a school girl's life-changing operation raised just under £1700.
The event held at the St Nicholas Shopping Centre on Saturday, was in aid of Dana Johnston's Walk to the Stars Appeal.
The 12-year-old has Spastic Diplegia Cerebral Palsy and is trying to raise £60,000 to pay for an operation, which could allow her to walk independently for the first time.
The fun day had something for everyone to enjoy. Youngsters participated in a range of activities including an Easter egg hunt, a bow and arrow game, face painting and craft workshops.
Belly dancers the Shimmy Sisters also took to the stage to open the Sutton’s got Talent show.
Dana's mum Sera, said: "It was a busy day and we all enjoyed it very much, businesses who were part of the day were fantastic support. I would like to thank Lisa O'Hanlon for organising the event and the St Nicholas Centre."
"People gave so generously and wanted to know what the operation involved and how it will help Dana. Others didn't say anything and just put money in the bucket. Dana thought the money raised on the day was brilliant."
