Residents and staff are being invited to have their say on the future of Sutton’s libraries.
As £935,000 savings need to be made from the council’s libraries and heritage service, residents and staff are asked to take part in an online forum.
The discussion and debate pages on the Speak Out Sutton website allow people to give their ideas and views as well as comment and vote on other suggestions, which will help shape decisions made by the council.
Some suggestions already made include the value of CD and DVD hire, changes to opening times and whether more services could be provided online.
Councillor Graham Tope, executive member for community safety, leisure and libraries, said: “This your chance to tell us what you value most in the library service and guide us in our decisions on where we can be more efficient.
"This is not about closing libraries - this is about finding better ways of running the service.
“We want people to have their say so we’re making it as easy as possible by putting these discussions online.
"I implore everyone to log on and take part in the debate.”
Library users at Wallington, Cheam, the Circle, Sutton and Worcester Park can also comment on the opening hours in their particular libraries.
