Young chefs will compete at Carshalton College in the hope of spending a day in a Jamie Oliver restaurant.

The young cooks will take part in the Sutton section of the Young Chef competition on Saturday, January 15.

The best chefs will go on to the next round of the competition, where the winners will be sent on a trip to Italy.

The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Sutton Nonsuch and will see the young chefs have to prepare, cook and present a three course meal to four judges.

Barry Scarborough, tutor on the college's catering courses, has high hopes for two of his pupils, Daisy Daly and Aiden Brett, 16, who will compete in the competition after being entered as a reward for their dedication to their studies.

The heat will be taking place in the College’s in house training restaurant Nightingales.
