A police crackdown on criminal activity and motor offences this week produced some interesting results including a driver with three 10ft pipes sticking out his car.
The driver was fined £60 and handed three points during the operation which took place in Stafford Road, Wallington, on Wednesday (September 8).
Officers used speed cameras and Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology, which provides police with immediate alerts on suspect drivers and vehicles.
Sutton Insp Andy Brittain: “We want to send out a strong message that we are committed to keeping Sutton a low crime borough and a safe place to live and work.”
The operation is the latest in a continuing series involving a number of specialist police teams including Sutton’s Safer Transport Team, Safer Neighbourhoods Teams, Special Constables and specialist officers from Traffic Police.
During an operation in July more than 100 drivers were breath tested and 12 vehicles were seized for having no insurance. More operations are planned over the coming months.
