The jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend's mother has gone out to consider its verdict.
During the three-week trial at the Old Bailey the jury heard how jobless George Maben, 45, of Rosehill, Surrey, allegedly killed 65-year-old grandmother Maureen Cosgrove at her Carshalton Beeches home on March 24 this year.
The jury was told Mrs Cosgrove died of strangulation after a ligature was applied to her neck in the kitchen of her four-bedroom house in South Way.
Mr Maben denies murder.
He told the court the only reason he was at South Way on the morning Mrs Cosgrove was murdered, was to check up on girlfriend Lucy Rees who he believed was cheating on him.
Mrs Cosgrove's body was discovered by Mrs Rees and Mr Maben on the afternoon of March 24.
