A Sutton councillor has resigned over "financial allegations made against him".
Liberal Democrat Alan Salter, first elected in Carshalton Central in 2010, stepped down on Monday.
His party said he was "seeking legal advice" on the allegations.
A statement posted on the Sutton Lib Dems website on Tuesday read: "Alan Salter has resigned from the council following financial allegations made against him.
