House captains at Woodmansterne Primary School in Banstead donated a whopping £505 to the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton.

The school raised the cash during the first half of the school year, with fundraising events such as a Santa’s grotto on December 16, and an unwanted Christmas presents raffle on January 29.

The hospital’s fundraising executive Janet Tobin said she was delighted by the donation, and she looked forward to the school’s next project, a charity march in wellies around the school grounds.

The £505 the school raised will help support the hospital’s Oak Centre for children and young people.

The cheque was presented by Year 6 students Sophia Ford, Hayden Behzadifar, Louise Fielding, Joseph Cavey, Boluwatife Adebusuyi and Isabel Harvey.

Caroline Welch, Woodmansterne’s headteacher said: “We’re proud that our house captains have managed to raise this amount so far.

“We look forward to raising even more funds for the charity during the rest of the school year.”
